Which municipalities can join?

U.S. municipalities of all sizes, and at any stage of developing their food waste collection programs, are encouraged to reach out to the Composting Consortium. Together, we will explore ways to support your zero waste goals and help divert food waste and certified food-contact compostable packaging from landfills.

Why should municipalities join?

The Municipal Partner Platform convenes municipal leaders to establish and scale organics infrastructure and programs that help divert food waste from landfill. Through this platform, municipalities can access the research, resources and networks they need to support the growth of composting in their communities.

Organics programs and infrastructure play a key role in reducing methane emissions and providing environmental benefits such as improved soil health, water conservation, carbon sequestration, and support for local economies and ecosystems.
